WWE Championship Elimination Chamber Match Preview
Come Sunday, Feb. 12, the WWE Champion, whoever it is — be it reigning titleholder AJ Styles, his Royal Rumble challenger John Cena,
or even somebody else — will be in for a daunting task: Defending
SmackDown LIVE’s top crown inside the most savage creation WWE has ever
seen, the Elimination Chamber.
Without officially naming the match participants, SmackDown LIVE Commissioner Shane McMahon announced the gigantic bout on the Jan. 17 SmackDown LIVE, stating that six of Team Blue's very best Superstars will have the chance to walk out of the Elimination Chamber and into WrestleMania 33 as WWE Champion.
The infamous Chamber war zone, with its chain-link walls,
glass pods and steel floors, is diabolical to the core, and the rules
for the Elimination Chamber Match are as twisted as the structure
itself.
Two wrestlers start the bout while the remaining four are enclosed in pods. After a regularly scheduled period of time, a pod opens at random, enabling a Superstar to enter the match. This continues until all six competitors have been released. A Superstar can be eliminated at any time, via pinfall or submission only, and the last man standing is declared the winner.
Which gladiator will leave the Elimination Chamber as WWE Champion? Perhaps just as important, what kind of physical toll will the Chamber wreak on the participants as WWE barrels down The Road to WrestleMania?
Watch the SmackDown LIVE-exclusive pay-per-view, WWE Elimination Chamber, live on WWE Network Sunday, Feb. 12, at 8 ET/5 PT.
